Equal Treatment as Equality
Teachers’ commitment to tangata whenuatanga and Te Tiriti o Waitangi partnership means, for example, taking active steps to achieve equitable outcomes for Māori learners. Our Code | Ngā Tikanga Matatika also recognises the importance of treating learners equitably— that is, recognising that treating learners fairly does not always mean treating them equally.
Equal treatment as equality explores the concept of colour-blindness and identifying how it perpetuates inequity and dismantling historical inequities through affirmative action. |
